Focus Points, Zones And Subject Tracking
Choosing when to focus is only half the job. You also tell the camera where.
A single point puts one small box exactly where you want it, ideal for placing focus on an eye or a specific detail. It is precise but demands that you keep the point on the subject.
A zone or group uses a cluster of points, giving the camera a slightly larger area to find and hold the subject. This helps with erratic movement, like a bird hopping around Sungei Buloh, where a single point is hard to keep pinned.

- Switch to single AF for deliberate, static work: food, products, architecture, landscapes.
- Turn on eye or face detection and leave it on. It rarely hurts and often saves the shot.
- Learn where your camera lets you move the focus point quickly, usually a joystick, dial or touchscreen, so you place focus without stopping to think.
- Review sharpness by zooming in on your shots, not by trusting the small preview.
